Hello everyone, I've been lurking for a while and finally decided to join. I acquired a 1991 Chevy Suburban a few weeks ago. Only non factory stuff on it is a rough country lift and cd player. Has surface rust in a few places but no serious rust anywhere. It's been a New Mexico and Texas truck all its life. It has a naturally aspirated 6.2L diesel, auto trans, rear A/C, and 4wd. It'll be a slow resto/ fixer upper, but hopefully I'll turn it into a family trip and camping rig. Prior owners bought it in '95 and parked it in 2014 due to a fuel line leak. It was running perfectly with 399k miles at the time.

I'm excited about it as my first truck was a 1978 Silverado LWB 4x4, then a 1986 Silverado LWB 4x4. Ive been a Toyota fanatic the last many years, specifically Land Cruiser, but this is bringing back fond memories. My kids are pretty excited with all the extra space they'll get in this too.

I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions as this is my first diesel. I'm a diy'er and figure this mechanical diesel shouldn't be too difficult to work on, but we'll see. Thanks in advance everyone for the great forum.

Thanks,

You're close on the 100 series Land Cruiser, the correct engine nomenclature is 2uz-fe, ie the 4.7L v8. Not the most powerful, but probably the smoothest running engine I've ever owned.
