So you need 16's and not 16.5"s, correct?

Do you need factory wheels or will aftermarket work?

Yep, an 84 should be factory 16in wheels. I know 16.5's were used through most of the 70's and not sure when they went to 16in but an 84 for sure uses 16 inch. I may have one. I'd have to look around at my dad's. It'll probably need a sanding and paint. Maybe even blaseted and powder coated depending on how good you want it to look.

Don't toss that 16.5, there's probably someone there in the UK looking for a 16.5 too.

16.5" wheels came in a one piece version and a split rim version. If you have the split rim wheels, make sure you find a tire shop that understands them. The outer part of the rim (the split piece) is under tension when inflated and it must be properly seated when the tire is inflated.

Most shops will only inflate a split rim if they have a steel tire cage to drop it in, for protection if the locking piece pops off as they inflate it. It could literally kill you if it pops off.

16" 8 bolt rims from the 70's and 80's are relatively standard across manufacturers, although the offset and width may be different. If you can find a set of 16", 8 bolt rims from Chevy, Ford or Dodge I believe they will fit your truck.

Mine came to me wearing a set of 8 lug Ford wheels.
So that is also an option for you, unless you have your heart set on a set of Chevy wheels.

I think 81 is last year for 16.5". Not many tire options available anymore

My '81 C20 has 16.5's. I will be in the search for 16's when I decide to replace the tires. I have two sets of 16.5's, so I am of no help at all. Hope you are able to get what you need shipped over to you.

You could do like @mtnmankev did with his unusable wheels and make a cool wood burning stove or bbq from them.
