Hi friends. So, I was browsing fb marketplace when I saw a 1978 GMC C25 for sale for 850 dollars.

Yeah you heard me.

Catch?
No engine, no trans. Originally 454 and th400.
No column, was tilt with cruise(I have a 78 half ton with that exact column!)
Some rust on body, not bad surprisignly for our area
Needs chasis work like brake lines and rust removal.
Floor pan and rocker on driver is rusted but not rotted through all together.
No tailgate.

I want it.
I want it bad. THe man is offering to deliver it for 30 bucks and a case of hamms! He lives an hour and half away. I have small blocks. I have th350s. I have a single th400 rwd in a 75 grand am.. but i dont imagine thats ready to drop in considering BOP and a sedan. plus would need building likely.

But the thing about this truck.. its in better shape than mine... but its also 2wd, its also 3/4 ton... and its something that I can work on without having my plow truck out of comission! Thats my biggest concern for not jumping in, i cant not-have it ready.

But this.. i can put it in the shed and likely not touch it till spring at earliest.. but then its at my convenience and its on my terms! ENgine is out, i can do it right and do what needs to be done. I have a graveyard of parts. Got a perfect hood to put on it. Its simple. It has AC option and all the original parts minus the engine side of things.

I feel like this is my calling.

Id love a manual trans, but i dont know where my extra pedals are and i would rather keep an auto since it would be the least amount of work since it came with that. At least for now. I have tunnels if that would have been an issue. or becomes.

Is this my calling? The guy is holding it for me, he says he likes the fact Im keeping a tradition alive and im a young girl, im impressive.

Is this it?

Get it, save every old real car/truck you can. If the liberals have their way they will all end up in the scrap yard.

I mean, not to burst your bubble... actually yeah ill burst it. im a liberal. and i love my guns and classic cars. i value facts, and fact is a 1978 truck will take decades of a 2020 truck being around on the road for it to pass it in emissions and environemntal impact.

See, the thing is, the 2020 truck isnt gonna be on the road in 2040. Itll be replaced by 2035 or so, with something equally devastating on the world.

My 1999 car is even a better example, it will take a LONG time for a new car to be less harmful than my already-existing car.

Because of that fact i support the environment, i drive old cars.

Im not a common liberal

Those rockers...or what used to be rockers, are enough to make me walk away and not look back.
Beggers cannot choose in this area. 11k for rust free, 5k for rust surface level, sub 1k for a truck that i have patch panels for and can do some hard work on?

Im thinknig of engines.. in terms of what i own.. I have small block chevy and small block pontiac. I have th350, th400, and 4wd sm465(No 2wd variant). I also have 4wd th350.

Small block pontiac i have the th400 mated to.. I could do a swap assuming its not difficult? Would require little work to mate them, maybe just driveshaft.

but sbp is 400 1975, so not sure good or bad.

If buying an engine/trans, I would like inline 6 or 454.. not unopen to small block, but id like to expand my horizons and go beyond. plus my square already has a sbc :)

Ohhhhhhh.....
Look at that.
What a handsome truck you have there.

I would say do it.
Buy it and pay the man his $30 and case of Hamms to deliver it too.
It needs its big block back in it.
You will not be disappointed at all.

Oh and here is my comment on the "LS swap the world" for old vehicles @AuroraGirl ...
