It's a 77 K10 frame that had a 85 C20 cab with a 4" body lift. I am getting rid of the body lift. I hear that you use the frame year body mounts. I assume the C20 cab would bolt on just like a K10 cab. But it looks like the previous owner torched the holes to use the 81-89 body mounts. Can someone please tell me whats going on here. Advice? The top washer / insert with the slot shaped hole has been completely rusted out on all except for the one pictured.

Thanks!

Looks like they may have had alignment issues and had to enlarge all of the holes, but simply put, a hack job. I'm not sure about the alignment of mounting plates on the frame and what not between the 70's and 80's trucks but I believe this was talked about somewhat recently.

Looks like they did indeed hog out the holes to use the later style mounts. They should have flat sides, but obviously they weren't concerned with that. Later style mounts are probably the best bet.

Thanks Bucket. I was concerned the height of the mounts or the height of the actual bracket for the mounts on the frame might be different but from everything I read the K73-80 frames are identical to the K81-87 frames besides:

  • The front horns
  • The rear bumper mounting holes
  • The lightened crossmembers
  • Frame thickness?
Might be wrong. Been Googling all day off and on..

Yeah, overall mounting hight is the same between the two styles of mounts.

Jep, I'd agree. Someone did some grinding to make the wrong body mounts fit the frame. Should be just fine to rock with it so I'd get the original year model mounts instead of the correct ones for that frame since it's modified.
