noticed the oil pressure get down to 45 on the interstate. It was time for an oil change so I added 6 oz of seafoam to the oil and drove it for a few days. It must have needed it because I didn't have as much power as it should on the 3rd day. Changed the oil and drove it, wow what a difference...power was back. Guessing the oil filter was clogged.

Anyway, after the oil change, I noticed with the key on and engine off, the oil pressure gauge was reading 30. I thought great....was I only running at 15 before all this? Looks like I'll be swapping the sender. Because it's so close to the firewall, I have to take the intake off. Now's the perfect time to relocate the sender to the oil block off plate above the oil filter. Ordered one of these today. If the pressure gets that low again, I think I'll be needing an oil pump.

Not necessarily for the square just yet but made some cribbing blocks this weekend so I can jack my mustang up to the sky when it's time to put in the new transmission and everything.

Put em in the office for now so I can mock up everything inside away from the 246 degree heat we call a texas summer.

Pulled the scoop and filters to wash and re-oil them. Since some goodies for the carbs will be here Monday, I figured I’d just leave everything off until then and start cleaning for our “unofficial” cruise-in on the 19th. Hopefully word of mouth will still bring in plenty of cars. Thanks COVID for canceling not once but twice what has become quite a big deal here. Got the scoop and the bells on the plates polished. Hoping to get the rest of the shiny stuff polished up tomorrow, if we don’t go out of town like the wifey kinda wants to do. Off all next week so plenty of time to get it done

I’ll give you $400 for that heap so you don’t have to keep fixing it.

Lol. Sold

I thought I put a new belt on the motor last summer but I really dont know. The rubber is cracked on the inside and thats making me think I used the old one. Probably thinking I would get a new one for it. And never did.

Got a little bit of fuel system wiring done. Thanks to Painless if I wasn't so critical it would have been easier.

Started the day by removing the discharge nozzles. Had to take my time so I wouldn’t drop the teeny gaskets so it took all of 2 minutes

The shotgun scoop needs to come off in order to clean and recharge the filters. And it’s a major pain in the butt to do so. It’s held in place thru the bottom of the plates by bolts taking the infamous 10mm wrench to remove them. Takes what seems like forever to do this. So now there run down thru the inside of the scoop with blue loc-tite, creating studs. The wing nuts have ridges that help hold them in place. Not sure why they didn’t put studs in to begin with

Spent a good part of the day cleaning. A lot under the hood. Rubbed the blower case with Nevr Dull, then Meguires polish followed but a thin coat of Ibiz wax to help repel the Fall moisture. Rubbed the carbs down with Nevr Dull. The coating repels the moisture also. A bunch of work, but in the the end it’s worth it I guess. It’ll hold up until repeating for winter

Knocked the dust off of her and started polishing & waxing. Got everything but the front chrome & the wheels and tires when the mail gal comes walking in the garage with a package….the PowerBlast plates. They were packaged really well with bubble wrap and in a box that was clearly marked FRAGILE. Took maybe all of 5 minutes to put them in. They have a little wiggle room so getting everything lined up was pretty simple, even with the carbs still mounted and my fumble fingers

Put the butterflies back on for the cold weather that will soon be here. I found out the hard way last year while driving home from work during a freezing rain without them. She started running kinda funny, sorta hiccuping. When I got home the front air filter was totally frozen. The back carb was the only one getting any air. Blower plus lean condition isn’t good but nothing got hurt.

Still need to hook the butterfly rod to the throttle shaft arm and finish the cleaning job so I can get out and see if these plates make a difference or not. Won’t be tomorrow tho…we have to be in OKC most of the day.
