I don’t know, I don’t have trouble with mine and it’s 6/8. I suppose a 1/2 ton may be different but I have no experience with them.

If I only have one square and use it like I do, it can’t be lowered. I regularly cross ditches and traverse uneven terrain working the truck on my property.

BUT... I’d love to have a nicely lowered 2wd hot rod pickup to cruise around the summer. However, since my wife is calling the next project and she doesn’t like lowered trucks, it isn’t happening too soon.

She’s after a 55 chevy, so I’ll take it either way. She wants this:

I’m not sure how they lower 1/2 tons but I guess I just assumed they had the original spring pack with the axle on top. Mine is the original spring pack minus the overload spring.

I do get your point but I was ******* with @82sbshortbed a little and I’m still going to need to see him off-roading in deep water in the winter while pulling a trailer for proof!

^ just missed a '57 close to me, rust-free body, no engine or trans for $3500.
I have a '55 that a fabrication buddy is grafting a '59 Impala dash in for me. It's getting a pump gas 565 with tunnel ram and a pair of Holleys and sits on a '63 GMC chassis.

They aren’t cheap. We looked at a few in the $5k range. They were pretty much VINs with a chunk of hacked rust surrounding them.

I’d settle for a decent shell in the $10k range. There are many options for a chassis.

Not exactly what we’re after, but not a bad price.

Very briefly on Craigslist recently , I spotted a 57 I believe, guy wanted 2500, clean title, but the ENTIRE thing was encased in surface rust.

I didn't act on it, I guess I should have.

Although I was a bit suspicious of it, and it was 3 hours away

I think axle flip, in the rear (spring under), less leafs, ori guess your 52" rear leafs could be switched to a 56 with less leafs, and it would drop it down some more and I've seen for the front either cut down the coils or lowering spindles, besides that I don't know

Haha, this guys scraping the ground as he's driving. Hence the sparks flying out from under the truck. I don't want mine doing that. God forbid he comes across a bump it pot hole in the road. Probably rip off the exhaust. Lol
