got the power plant for the subourban. wrecked donor vehicle. probably going to get that 14 bolt too.

anyways, only the harness, engine, and trans need to be taken out right now. has a push button transfercase.

im thinking, take the shafts off, take off the junk t case that drops on the wrong side, and then try to get the engine and trans out from the front/top. i will be removing everything in the way IF necessary. for example, if it isn't absolutely required, i dont want to take off the harmonic balancer pulley if i can instead take off the front clip. or will it be easier to separate before removal? if you have experience with these trucks and engines, please share what you gotta say

Since it's coming out of a wrecked donor I have found that a cutting torch can sure make things a lot easier. In fact a cutting torch has the ability to make lots of things easier! lol:cheers:

Mind what I say, sorry if it doesn't make sense, I've had alot of beer.

I think you've gonna need an adapter from advance adapters to run a pass drop squarebody t case. (np208, np205, Np203, np241, np208)

There's other issues someone may have input on too, I do know some people sell different output shafts for the 4l80e that you can convert your trans with to 27 spline.

Your 4l80e= 32 spline output
Squarebody np241 input (what you need for speed sensor) = 27 spline

The 90 and 91 squarebody suburbans, crew cabs, and blazers had a np241, and they used a VSS rather than a speedometer cable.

The other option is finding a ultra rare 1991 gmc suburban 3/4 Ton truck which had a 4l80e and np241 (good luck)

The np205, 208, 203, 205 (non vss) CAN be adapted with a VSS adapter from Dakota digital, just contact them and ask.

(the adapter converts the speedometer cable output on the t case into a digital signal which your ECM has to have in order for the transmission to shift and the speedometer to register a signal)

Adapting a squarebody transfer case to a newer 4l60e or 4l80e I think is the BIGGEST milestone for LS swap guys.

OPTIONALLY : a 77-79 Ford kingpin dana 60 would work for you, it's 31.5 Centerpin (same as a Chevy), and the drop side for it is drivers drop, which is what the 2005 you're taking apart is.
But beware, the Ford dana 60's are extremely expensive

There is the 32 spline 208 that you can bolt to a 2wd 4l80 with a cheap adapter. Doesn’t really help your particular situation.

was aware of the need for an adapter. i am mainly concerned with getting the engine out. i never took an engine out of a car or truck yet in my life

also i was aware of using a ford dana 60. i want an np205, no chain drive or push button bs, so the 05 2500 transfercase might as well go in the trash
