After replacing the vacuum advance in my distributor and rebuilding the carburetor i drove it to and from work for a week and i am happy to report my fuel economy has improved before it would getting 10.5 to 11 and now it is getting 13.9 to 14 mpg so that is a improvement.

Damn I'd kill for 14mpg. Just checked the mileage on my K20 with a long highway drive while actually trying to conserve gas and only got 11 :( Probably getting 8 around town as I like to stomp it every now and then lol

You must have 4:10's

I think gear ratio, whether you have over drive or not, and your driving habits, and condition of the truck mechanically play a roll in it. I have a trailer that I tow and I'm looking to change the gear ratio in my rear end. Probably to 4.56. Right now I have 3.41 and it's great for freeway mileage I've touched 16MPG, (700R4) and guys give me a hard time when I talk about wanting to get as good a mileage as possible. It'll drop with the change I know but I hope to keep my freeway mileage when empty in the 12 - 14 range. We'll see.

I’m afraid to check but I’m guessing 7 is where I’m at or maybe even a bit optimistic on my truck.
I remember dad filling BOTH 74 454 Chevy saddle tanks Weekly for a 30mile round trip commute and minimal side trips. And that was 2wd and small tires.
That truck was a 7-8mpg rig all day long.
But I was ok with it cause at 10 years old, he’d let me drive the back roads “the long way home” from the gas station!

Got the engine and tranny out of the parts burb today. Damm 90-100 degree temps this week didn’t help. As soon as I get all of the parts I pulled off and make some room in the shop, I’m going to pull the K5 in and swap trannies.

Finally got some good weather, got out under the truck and wired up my trailer plug, all set to take a road trip.

All wired up. Still wrong, all 4 don't come on for brights but, left them on for a while with the trickle charger on it and they didn't cycle on and off.

That is how those lights are supposed to operate. All 4 do not come on with high beam.

No all 4 are supposed to be on for high.

For that style, I think @gmbellew is correct.

Not sure on the stacked style.

I am basing that on memory of my 91, thinking the same thing- WTF aren't all 4 on ?
