Sorry mate no pictures for ya today it was raining buckets, but I promise first clear day I’ll snap a few.

Concerning the rivets... If you center punch them dead in the middle and start with a small drill bit and work your way up in three sizes they aren’t that bad.

the metal is softer than what you think it would be.

with a little tap magic, or tapping fluid of any kind they go pretty quick.

On the c30 my son and I are building now, I drilled out right around 60 of them in an afternoon using the same 3 drill bits and liberal amounts of tap magic. (I love that stuff smells like cinnamon lol!!)

Oh almost forgot, I might take a pass on the vegimite sandwich but, if I ever make it down under maybe we could blow the frost of a cup, and listen to some “Men At Work” A nice cold Fosters would hit the spot! :Caffeine::dogpile: :drink_nl::happy160:

Sorry I got carried away I love those little guys!!

Thanks for being a good sport about my razzing ya a bit! All in good fun.

Never need an excuse to stop and have a beer, I’m keen on drilling the sucker out, just feels like it has heaps of tension on it because it’s all bent.
Cheers

Here's a pic of one off of an 84 C20. Maybe the wrong angle but it might help. A bit far away or you could come cut these rivets and leave with this one. I won't be using the front of this frame.

That looks like what I have , bit hard to see from that angle, darn it if it weren’t more than a tank of fuel and COVID I would come and grab that little sucker.
Thanks

Hi GTP51,

From another Aussie, SE Melbourne, here is my front cross brace.
On my 76 C20 2WD.

Mine is all solid all bar the holes on the left for the Brake Prop Valve.

Thanks Paul, the early chassis seem to be different to the later ones. The brace I’m trying to figure out is just back from the radiator support panel.yours is looking very good

Ok so here’s the update on that brace,4 hours, some old fashioned work with a sledge hammer, crow bars and a bumper jack, lots of swearing and it’s not perfect, some clean up with the angle grinder and nice chassis black tomorrow and it will pass. Thanks to everyone who posted advice photos and offers of beer, speaking of beer it’s nearly 5 o’clock here in Locked down Melbourne, so cheers:cheers:

I've used this seller a couple times before. They are in Northern California and part out a lot of GM trucks. I needed the spare tire frame support for my truck, but it was not listed on ebay. They pulled the part for me and made a special listing.

Thanks I have sent them a message on eBay, their site says they don’t send internationally, but can’t hurt to ask

Thanks Scott, yep that’s the one and I appreciate you taking the time with the photos. I pretty much have it back into a respectable shape now, if I can locate one that’s not damaged I will replace it, but at least now it looks ok.
Cheers:cheers:
