I’ve never seen coil springs on a K10. What exactly am I looking at here?

Ok, I think I see now. Is that just the spare tire crossmember or something?

Well that’s a little concerning. When I bought the Truck I assumed it was k10 because of the front 4x4 axels/pumpkin/lockers. I guess I never really noticed the coils. Here is another angle with leafs. You think it’s not true k10? And thanks for your help on brace man that makes sense!

That's the spare tire cross member. Try these guys on ebay. They're in northern California. I've bought from them a couple of times. they part out a lot of trucks. If it's not part listed, they will go take it off a truck and make a listing for you if they have the part.

thank you for your time mate!! I appreciate your help and info!!

I assume those coils are just overload springs of some sort. Until I zoomed in I couldn't see the leaf springs. Coils only would indicate 72 and prior truck but I'm not sure if they were even available on 4x4 then.

If you got a pic of the front diff cover, and assuming it's stock, that might would tell us something.
If it's truly a 72 or earlier, it'd have a dana 44 front axle.
(yes I know the 44 was used up until like, 77 or 78)

I ask because it does seem odd with the coils, and that plate thing running across the top of frame seems odd too?

I'm probably just going off on a irrelevant tangent.

Just interested I guess.

Looks to me like someone added those coils as overload springs. It also looks like they simply make contact with the original bump stops.

The rear spring hangers and rivets say it's an original K10. Just with some added "engineering".

Yeah man I’d really appreciate that. I’ll post a picture of front end soon when I get home!

yeah I was thinking the same thing. I mean there isn’t a bracket or plate to hold the coils to axel so I’m thinking a weld is holding it in place. I’ll post more better pics soon!!
I appreciate everyone’s polite comments and opinions!!
