Hey guys

I am trying find some info on a 6l80 swap... in know there electric and will need a tcm with the swap... has anyone done this on a square?... and can you run a older t_case? ... I am swaping out my corp ten bolts for a 14 bolt rear and a d60 up front with 4.56s... compared to my 3.08s I an running now... i do a lot of offroad adventures slash overlanding... I am running a nv3500 5 speed at the moment... that was my last swap ... but want to go back to auto with the one ton axles ...but still want my high way cruising... so the 6l80 is more my choice over the 4l80
.. thoughts?

I've read (don't hold me to it) that the NP208 with 32 spline will mate. From what I've read, the NP205 WILL mount to it with an adapter from advance adapters. They are also a good source of info. Feel free to call them, they are quick and to the point, but you'll get the info you need.

You can grab everything from a diesel truck to make your 4l80 shift their transmission controller was stand alone.I've also shifted them by grounding the shift solenoid wires, but that was just to get back from Coumbia MO. When I was stuck in limp in mode. Its good diagnostic knowledge though.I don't have it memorized but I cut the wires to the solenoid 1 grounded is 1 gear both grounded is a different gear the other one grounded is a different gear and both open I believe was 2nd. Since I could go through all the gears myself I knew the transmission was okay and it was a control issue. The transmission will shift at full line pressure this way so let off before you shift.Somebody out there Jake's or some one is selling a cheap controller that does it the same way they claim full pump pressure all the time doesn't hurt them, I disagree.

I am not worried about the tcm there is lots of companies that make stand alone modules ... it's more the swap ... like can keep my t case and drive shaft length etc ...

Hopefully the aftermarket controllers are better than the factory programming. The 6l90 can never make up its mind on which gear to be in. Once it does finally decide on a gear, it takes forever to engage. Most people I’ve talked to with them factory equipped, do not like them—myself included. Don’t even get me started on how bad they feel automatically down shifting while braking...

That being said, they aren’t bad when ‘manually’ shifted.
