Hoping to learn a lot here. I've got a 1978 Scottsdale C20 Long Bed. I've done basically no upgrades, as I'm new to driving the truck. I've had the truck for many years, but it has sat. I recently totaled my commuter car, which is why I'm hoping to revive the truck. She runs well and everything, but hoping to slowly make upgrades so that she lasts. Here are a few photos from a while back, just after we had painted with line-x bed liner.

What would be some important initial/inexpensive upgrades to make to improve performance?
Thanks in advance.

Welcome! A tune-up will help performance, correct timing, clean fuel filter(s), clean air filter, proper tire inflation, run some B12 in the tanks to get the crud out of the lines, that should get you there. If you want to spend more money vortec heads will wake up that engine big time, especially with a torquey cam. It doesn't need a lot of lift to get the power up.
