They sent an email out saying they will take back ALL their jack stands now. Give you $x cash back or $x++ store credit. There's only so many rubber gloves or buffing pads I could buy.

So I take back the sets I still have (took 2 back at recall and swear the replacements were worse - I never had an issue with the old ones but the 'new' ones I wouldn't have). Email says how much they are giving.....when I get there, they tell me that they "can only give what their computer tells them if I dont have the original receipt." That was a difference of about $30 total, so I'm contacting their HQ. Figure $20-30 x millions.....no wonder they play games.

Fun part now is finding a set worth having. ONLY 100% US made jacks left are $130 for the small pair. The 12 ton ($119 at HF) - with shipping is about $500. No wonder they all go to china.

I just returned 2 pair of stands and got gift card. No questions asked. Got back what I paid , yes now the fun of finding replacements. Any recomendations?

Now it's time to go look for all the pittsburgh 3 and 6 ton jack stands you can find at all the local yard sales :headbang:

. I wonder if I can get enough gift cards to pay for one of those vulcan multi process welders :party36:

I just ordered 4 sets of US Jacks - (2) 3 ton and (2) 6 ton. Pricey but the only 100% US made left. They are back ordered til the end of the month....bet they're slammed with orders since this HF collapse.

Never thought I'd spend that on jack stands but got tired of looking and always finding fault with one choice or another. Saw this vid, where the guy compares the HF to the US Jack....especially at the 6:30 mark. Nice thing is I'm set for stands.

I have had the Silver 6 tons for many years and silver 12 ton H.F. stands for quite a while. I have used and abused both sets with no issues.

Beings I have removed leafs at a junkyard holding a truck up sideways with 2x4s, I guess I just don’t give a ****. Lol

I am also not a “*****”(LOL, Love you all) with a lowered square. Mine will fall and I will still be able to yank the trans. LOL

I actually just researched this very subject recently, and, thanks to the HF recalls I didn't grab the HF 6 tons. Glad I didn't now.

On multiple forums I saw a general consensus of the Strongway series being pretty good. I picked up a pair of Strongway 6 tons for $45 and they seem pretty stable, the extra "locking pin" really helps to make you feel better if you're worried about the locking mechanism failing.

My old 6-ton stands are on the list of being able to be voluntarily returned but I'm not sure if I want to return them or just do some upgrading. Gotta think on that some.

I sent an email to HF asking about the 3-ton stands I've had forever. They were purchased at HF under the Allied brand name and aren't mentioned in the recall letter. They have the same one-sided welds as all the others so my faith in them has gone down even though they've been around for many years. I'm predicting HF will punt on those, and if so, I'll probably use them as guinea pigs to see how they take to being reinforced. Adding additional bracing would be easy, but I'd also like to add a secondary locking pin into the pawl mechanism. If I'm happy with the results I'll consider doing the same to the 6-tons.

I recently picked up a nice old set of Walker 6 ton stands, so might have to return a pair of the HF 6 tons that I have. I have another pair of 6 ton stands (not HF) that I might try putting a locking pin in. Don't think I need 3 sets of 6 ton stands.

I think one of my pairs of 3 tons are Allied, didn't know they were from HF, I picked them up at a yard sale.

I have 2 sets of home made ones built with thick steel and each way like 30 pounds, the heavier set somewhere in 40 pounds

I have some old, orange, 3 ton Allied ones as well. I don't think I got them from HF.

2 prs of 3 ton; 2 prs of 6 ton.

I swear the boxes are heavier duty than the HF stands.
