Hi, I am new to the forum. Just picked up a 1979 GMC k15 stepside. My son’s dream truck. He turns 16 in a couple of months. Looking for suggestions and ideas of where to start.

Welcome from Ohio. What is your plan for the truck? I like trucks mostly original but that's my opinion. Your avatar pic looks like a pretty sharp truck!!

Welcome. Get the mechanicals in order to make it reliable, then if it has A/C get it working. You're gonna need it in Clovis.

Fat Jack's was one of my favorite places to go when visiting Fresno/Clovis area.

Welcome. You're a couple hours north of me. Start by posting some pics of that truck. And then start going through it little by little to make sure everything is in good working order. Replace what needs it, fix what can be fixed, and did I say to post up some pics...lol...

Welcome! Nice rig if it's in the little pic. I was after a K10/15 as well, hoping for a step side, but found the 3/4 ton.
Son and I will be doing a mid level restore on it as well.
Even though the truck is 100% together everything works and totally driveable anywhere, the list is about 50 items long and growing! LOL

And "PAINT" is just one item that will take as long as the rest of the list put together, haha.

North of you! 16? My first one was a 235 straight six 1954 mustache Chevy and me and my dad had to replace the crank bearings because I thought it could do 80 mph! Not! The one in my picture my dad bought and I also drove it at 16. Same truck this 3rd time for the rear end. Make it safe and reliable and don't get mad. Welcome more pic's plz
