Hit em with a labor claim. Napa ,right?
Didn’t know that was an option. What hourly rate do I bill my wife out for, lol?!

They treat me pretty good over there discount wise. I’ll let ‘em slide this time.

I can't answer the rate for your wife(sounds kinda kinky ,possibly illegal). But most Napa stores have a policy for failed parts labor. Just sayin your hard work should be worth something if you put your trust in their parts. Kinda depends on the actual job, master cylinder maybe not so much, not too labor intensive

I agree. Parts suppliers should be held accountable if for no other reason, it’ll encourage them to carry parts they can stand behind. It seems much more common that I have to return a defective part now. Albeit, I’m sort of comparing apples to oranges—with my past experiences related to air cooled VW and Porsche parts.

She’s a PROFESSIONAL brake pedal pusher/holder. That has to fetch top dollar, right?

OP, I'm in the same bind. Guilty admission - I don't have a squarebody (though I've had several), It's a 1972 K5 with a hydroboost conversion that the previous owner installed. Problem is, I have a leaky M/C and I'm pretty sure the M/C is bad BUT I don't know what the replacement part should be. Not only is my M/C leaking like yours - it looks EXACTLY the same. I've narrowed it down to a few potential parts. One of them was a 1983 C/K30. Do you know what the proper fitment/part is for the M/C that you replaced. Thanks!

Tell the parts store you have an 84 k30 6.2l diesel. Should get you the same MC I have.

K30 with hydroboost, new master cylinder. Have brake fluid seeping past lid. Is it just over full? Maybe the lid is just janky. You can see in second pic it’s making it onto the mating surface. Retainer clip feels solid. Second pic shows fluid level even after leakage... it’s still plenty high.

Bend your hold down clip a little bit to give it a little more pressure against the lid seal

It was a faulty MC. It’s been swapped for a little over a year now with no issue.

PSA: if you have a similar leak, open the lid and have a helper pump the pedal. If you have a small fountain, you have a bad seal somewhere in the MC. Mine was a new unit, too.
