hah, probably has something to do with the still common misconception that GMC is supposed to be more heavy duty than Chevy despite being the exact same truck. Wayyyy back in the day this was true, but for squares it simply meant a different grille and tailgate lettering. Plus the horn button and that telltale logo on the dash that lets you know your buddy's Blazer actually is a Jimmy.

Same here. Although I've never liked the look of a gmc personally, so I've never taken high interest in them lol its really just the grill and their front clip designs.

Grille, Horn, Dash, VCEI Decals on fenders, cab corner trim, and i guess any included documentation are THE ONLY differences in squares, yes? Ignoring limited special production runs, some were only chev some only gmc.
Nowadays, base vehicle unchanged, minor cosmetic and generally more luxury or option filled behing the difference nowadays. Still junk(I said what I said, trucks died in like 1997 and 1998. Dodge, they died in like 1993 or 94. Whenever they went from square to what I only can describe as engineers were told do anything to avoid right or generally sharp angles. I know some of you like those dodges, all of them up here were piles since they were knew(rusted bad). Get one with a cummins, you just have a really ugly engine stand that structurally couldnt compete with an engine stand.
Weirdly, its also when chevy and ford went from sharp, distinct angles for a very curvy, no rough edge, very cheap plastics, clothy, enlarged button, offensively capable considering their design downfalls.
Was a 2000 F250 more capable than a 1990 F250?
The answer was probably yes, but one came with an International Harvester NA diesel that went 300k miles but 0-60 in 3 minutes while the other came with a Powercock that sucked miserably for a good chunk of years.

In googling pictures to show for an example of a rusted pile of a 2nd gen ram like im talking about, I only found pictures of many in really nice condition and will concede that when not a rusted pile of poop with no safe or feature reedeeming qualities about them, they are not half bad for a curve. However, I will not defend the 3rd gen up in any working or cosmetic order. Trash electronics, trash engines except for the L6 apparently some had and cummins, trash cosmetics, trash interiors, trash rust resistance, trash bags, trash cans, etc.
Must be a rust belt thing, more 90s ford and chevys(accounting for their better sales, too) are rusted within reason and maintain clear coat, headlights resist fogging, etc than those 2nd gens up here. But every 03 or whatever to 0-now abouts has rust, from ram. no joke, you see 2016s or around there with rust poking around wheel wells, inside the beds, around the door hinge, near hood opener, etc while many 2005 chevy/ford will have some ugly rockers, but still got enough to seal the door and step inside, etc.
our dodge rams make ugly engine stands, your dodge rams can be tolerated as pickup trucks.
But in our hearts, we know the REAL joke is the 1997 F150, if anyone deserved a participation trophy for best 1/2 ton that year, it was the 97 F250 or whatever because that F150 is just BAD
