1990 V1500 Suburban. the driver door master power window switch stopped working for the rear passenger window. also, when i push the switch, it pegs the voltmeter down to the bottom of the gauge. the switch on that window still works. i am pretty sure the ground for all switches goes through the master switch, so i don't think it is a ground issue. i am guessing the switch is bad? does the switch just pop off the trim panel, or do i need to remove the trim panel? any other thoughts?

Yes. Bad master switch. You can pop the switch off with some gentle prying and the clip will fall behind the door panel. Or you can take the panel off to do it. Just depends on how motivated you are that day

More than likely it’s either the master switch or there is a break in the door jamb boot wiring where the harness passes through to the interior (this is more likely the issue)

It wasnt the switch.....new switch is shinier, but still has the same problem.

The hunt for a broken wire will commence soon.
