You mean to move the blade up or down, depending on my original location? Is something off with the way I did it? I lost the original package with the fasteners for the wiper blades, and had to scrounge them from a couple other blades I have. They might not even be proper center hook holding thingys. But if you mean just to move up or down, I getcha.

I see nothing wrong, I just meant you have the option of up or down a little.

You can get acdelco 18" wipers from any gm dealer that fit the old silver wiper arms.

I don't know why I didn't think of that, one of the suppliers for the shop carries A/C delco parts.

Wonder how late of models do they fit (86 - ?)
The PAA silicone wipers only fit 86+, because of the arm style. They do not fit the old style, believe me I tried.(all 3 types of wipers they offer). The J hook would be the best option.. but I dont know of any J hook arm that would fit the truck. BUt thats why I changed to the 86 style, which is made new you can buy new ones. The ones I got are low quality

I like my original silver colored arms on my 70's trucks. They will be staying, especially since I found out that Anco makes J-hook adapters for the bayonet style arms. They fit snug and you can run pretty much any wiper blade you want since the J-hook style is so common.

But what other years will still fit an 85?

89? 92? 97?
I believe the square body generations is only what the new arms fit. I could be wrong, but 73-87, through 91 on the exceptions like blazer, suburbans, crewcab, whatever else went up to 91

I think he is talking about these https://www.summitracing.com/parts/...p9v2MCN2wyw7Fac98p9S83wY-BKBT890aAnS1EALw_wcB

It's to bad because those are plastic, metal ones use to be available at parts stores, and they came with a little set screw that went through the hole in the wiper arm they were really good.

These are them, but notice they are listed as unavailable. https://www.amazon.com/Anco-4817-9-5Mm-Strt-Conct/dp/B0009IK61G
I do see a metal set on E-bay for $19.00 but that's the cost of one new arm, so seems a little ridiculous to me.

I've always run 18" blades on all my squares. I spaced out one time and bought 16s and people actually poked fun at me, they looked ridiculous. I bet one could even fit slightly larger than 18" on there depending on what style of blade you use.

Yep. Multiple people actually, especially if they were riding inside and could see them up close. Big loud Suburban with 33s and teeny tiny wee little wipers on the windshield looks pretty funny, I have to admit it even looked really silly to me too. IME most people run 18s on squares, so even though 16s may be what came on there back in the day, you never see them nowadays so it's strange looking. They look very out of place and stumpy, and you can see the clean area on the windshield is so far away from the edges, it looks like something is wrong.

Yeah, those plastic ones. The ones I have fit snug and have lasted many years.

I think I committed a dumb... I think my wipers came with them!!! I didnt realize that was the function. I need to dig through the pile of adapters I threw in a box.. somewhere..

Got my 18" blades today and wiper arms for an 87, so they have the hook on it. I think my arms are pretty well worn out so I expect that these will be a big improvement. I'll post pics once they are on.

I will also add that I'm still running the mechanical washer pump with the windshield dump nozzles in the cowling and I plan to keep it that way. The new wiper arms have the clip on squirter nozzles which I have removed. So if there is someone that would like a set of the clip on the arm style windshield squirters send me a pm and I'll mail them to you free of charge for the squirter and only the cost of postage.

Got it done a little afternoon at work today, quick and simple swap, but then all hell broke loose at work so only now getting to post. To recap I went from the original style blade wiper arms to new hook style ordered for an 87, and from standard 16" blades to beam style 18".
Before image first, the drivers side was an original arm, the passenger side some sort of universal adjustable piece of crap, with traditional type blades.

Next picture is after installing the 87 hook style arms, and bosch clear advantage blades.

Kind of funny it was raining this morning which is what reminded me I hadn't done it yet, so of course it cleared off to a sunny afternoon and instead of using the wipers I ran the A/C on the drive home. A couple of quick observations, I think the curvature of the 87 arms is a little different than the 84, because for the blades to be level when turned off they sit almost an inch higher than the old ones to me that's fine. I'll report on function after the next rain.

The ones I put on my 1980 seem to sit okay, I didnt perfectly align them, but i dont see road and the wipers get over powered by leafs and stop, requiring me to wiggle the arm to resume function, so ive put proper alignment on the back burner. I did put them more paralel with the windshield at the park position because they actually would jump over the windshield seal and lay on the paint. not sure if thats malfunction, my grandpa if he had them off in the past and didnt realign properly, or if that is factory function(wouldnt think so), I think my driver has a slight incline while passenger is level at park. I might try that adapter to go from the little button to J hook and reuse the factory silver arms, just because i like the looks and gives me a J hook rather than the pin, also the arms i bought are cheap and would probably bend under wind on a highway, not impressed. Fit and function, but very weak, can easily bend it out of shape. ive only got 4 sets of original arms, I used one for the longest time to latch the door shut to my shed, it was long and fit lmao
