That's an even better deal getting all of those extra parts with it. Great score!

You could probably take the rocker arms off of it and keep goin.
OP
i bet money you could.
Run a Inline 5.

the only real reason it runs bad is because those valves continue to operate.

try it and see for yourself

It didn't run bad, it wouldn't run at all. That piston was seizing up the engine, though I might have been able to get it running, though if I had pull started the truck.

Part of the deal, though was that I had to help the guy I bought it off of pull the engine.

It was great practice for when I do it on my truck though.

I hope to rent an engine hoist tomorrow.

Not worth it if it's seized. Good move towing and getting the other engine

That is freaking awesome you got to help pull it, that would certainly help dissuade my anxiety about swappin em out!

Man you're really luckin out. You probably just bought a terrific engine too!

Thank you for posting that pic, I just now realized what this box of parts I had no idea were for because the fan was small, I had no clue what a single valve cover with no mate went on(didnt realize the length), some accessory drive items, etc. were from my gpas old 76 nova. I already knew I had the monojet from it, because i found it next to the core support plate with the VIN number on it, but that was in a different spot than this box. So thanks haha

If you want to stay points, cool. If you want go kind of HEI I can dig out a diagram and directions on how to use the points as trigger for a 4 wire hei module external Hei coil. the points will just switching milliamps on the input side of the module. And the module does the heavy lifting.

Screw 'em. Put the 194 in! Lol

I like the 250 route though.
I wouldn't be surprised if that 194 wouldn't outperform the 250. That 194 head will breath much better not having NOX bumps in it for emissions, not to mention higher compression. I have a feeling that 194 head is the same head on a 230. I've love to have another 230, or a 250 with a 230 head on it. No headers needed, but do modify the exhaust manifold for a 2nd dump and then a 2 or 4bbl intake. I have a feeling it would out perform the 80's Wee O Fives but be better on fuel and likely have more torque. Just a wild guess.

Well, as I mentioned, I bought that engine just for its head, and I had it running on the engine before it blew up.

I also plan to use it on my new engine along with a new camshaft.
