I'm having a difficult time figuring out how the fan shroud is supposed to be mounted on to the core support. I have a 3 core radiator and a 2 piece shroud. The bottom half of the shroud has been trimmed some by the PO to allow it to be removed with messing with the fan. The shroud doesn't seem to have any mounting points sitting as low as it can. The core support, shroud, and rad mounts are all from the same vehicle. The radiator is different but must be the same size as the original since the mounts still fit. The original vehicle was a 85 or 84 305 if that makes a difference.

If you look at these pictures, the radiator top mounts look to have little ears that should line up with the holes in the top corners of the shroud but they are at least an inch apart vertically with the shroud holes being too high.

The shroud doesn't appear to be able to go any lower too as the clearance between the fan blades and the shroud are pretty close.

One potential problem with putting the shroud lower is the brake lines. Normally the proportion valve is mounted on the other side of this crossmember. I installed the ORD steering box brace though and it takes up most of the space where this should mount. And since I could just reuse the existing holes on the front side of the cross member I did. I can reroute the lines or cut the shroud if necessary, I just don't know if this is an issue with the shroud mounting. Also, I'm not sure how the bottom of the shroud attaches down here if it does at all.

I am constantly kicking myself on not taking enough pictures on disassembly ugh. Any tips on what I'm not seeing here?

What is new? It looks to me like the upper radiator mounts are upside down and on the wrong side. It looks like the shroud is in the right spot, but the radiator is mounted way too low. That also looks like a shroud for a larger 4-core radiator. Mine looks like that, but my radiator is all the way up flush to the top of the core support with a flat bracket over the top.

There should be two brackets coming off the core support on each end of the radiator. T shroud bolts tho them. Yours appear to be missing. They look similar to the brackets holding in your radiator.

Looks like you have a short radiator and a tall shroud

Ah yeah that picture helps a bunch @jtridgley79

Looks like I need to find a new shroud upper at a minimum if not both pieces.
