Moving forward on the 77 K10 restoration. The p/o had installed one of those aftermarket tubular chrome grilles. I am going back to stock, so I purchased a new grille from Brothers. But how is the original grill supposed to mount? It seems obvious that the 2 center mounts are screwed into plastic nuts that are snapped into square holes in the radiator support center bracket. But the 2 mounting points on the left and 2 mounting points on the right are out in space with nothing to screw into. Are there supposed to be brackets coming off the radiator support? I see weld nuts in the radiator support where a bracket might go.

I have searched in Brothers, LMC, Classic, etc. Nobody seems to have any such brackets. I can find grille brackets for 73 - 74 grilles.

Thanks for your help.

See pic below- on mine, and I assume yours is similar , there are 2 vertical posts and there are square slots where those plastic pieces slide into for the screws.

Maybe someone else will have a pic with the grille off.

This is the upper drivers side.

Thanks. It looks like there is a steel bracket in there that comes off the radiator support and comes forward to meet the back side of the grille. Is that what I am seeing?

OK, now I think I am convinced. Seems I am definitely missing the bracket circled in red. Guess I am searching for a used set since nobody seems to make these new.

That would be super. Do you know if these brackets are year specific? I have to believe that 73 - 74 are different because there are new/re-pops available. And they look very different in shape from the ones I need. And I see that starting in 1981 the rad support was also different. So is it safe to assume the brackets are common from 1975 - 1980?

Also, I read something about there possibly being difference between the Chevy & GMC grilles in terms of mounting locations?

Yes 1973-74 used a single screw on the ends and the center support is much more recessed that 75-80. 81+ use a somewhat more complex grille mounting as is cannot simply be unscrewed from the front of the truck. But afaik 75-80 should interchange without issue.

Great, thanks. Can you PM me with more details on the set you may have available?

My tube grill had its own sheet metal supports that it was installed with. I had to go to a junk yard and pull the original grill supports.

At this point you probably already had this answer though. I just went through this 6 months ago.

I can't find a closer up pic with grill off, but here I have the brackets installed after I painted them and before I put in the original grill I also pulled and restored from the same truck.
