the transfer case is either too low or i have the wrong cross member the drive shaft is hitting the crossmember and can not get it low enough to bolt to transfer case. looks like the transmission mount needs a 2" spacer or something. i will post a few pictures. thanks for your help.

Is this a transmission mount? If so this is my problem I used what I thought was the transmission mount and need to bolt this to that. Oh well nothing like putting something together that someone else took apart.

How about a picture of the crossmember, the driveline where its hitting, and which one of your trucks are you talking about?

I only ask as the x-mbr has what looks like two holes inside the where the 2 studs come through. They don't look large enough for a bolt. Also, I don't recall a x-mbr having a slot for the mounting studs.

They did have trans mounts with the single bolt in it but IIRC that was for a manual trans. Your mount may have collapsed if your trans was leaking on it.

This is a 84 with a 85 350 and transmission and transfer case from a 89 Surburban I bought the truck from a guy that was trying to put a 5.3 in it I bought the motor transmission and transfer case from the 89 Suburban and the motor was locked up so the engine was out of my 86 and had a blown head gasket so we are going to see if it all works, we will see.

I have a different crossmember but i believe it will work stay tuned for further updates. this is kind of like the Johnny Cash song one piece at a time, and time will tell

You currently have a 4x4 "short foot" mount with a 2wd mount bolted to the bottom of it. Your crossmember is the flat type that uses a "tall foot" style t-case adapter, which uses different style mounts altogether.

You definitely have a Johnny Cash thing going on, but it seems like it all works as it is.
