Anyone know if this is a thing or will it be a customer made piece?
I removed the spare tire well and want a flat piece to put back in its place. Any ideas/advice?

These are what I removed. All because of a damn leaf springs bolt.
Not putting it back in. Figured I’d see if I can buy a flat panel before having one made.

I plan on doing the same, plus mine is rotted along the edge under the barn doors. I haven't had the time but I'm going to do some measuring and see if I can use repair panels from a truck bed or Blazer.

So you don't need wheel wells on a Burban?

That’s the spare tire wheel well. It’s recessed into the floor.

I never could find a pre made piece. I am just gonna make a piece when I get around to it.

Suburbans have a spare tire well behind the driver side wheel tub that is really deep and if you have oversized tires and want to carry a spare it's kind of useless. It's easier to lay it flat in the back. I just measured mine and it's about 12" wide and 33" long. I also measured my long bed and it's only about 22" behind the wheel tub so I can't use that as a filler. I think I'm going to take mine out also and make a rectangular pan about 1/2 as deep to put things like gallons of coolant, brake fluid, PS fluid, etc. Then I'm going to do the same on the passenger side but make it fit a row of ammo cans.

They sell bed patch panels... maybe use that for the same style steel and then hinge it? Otherwise i like your idea

Seems like an excellent location to add a cover and turn into a locking security storage area. Cash, small purse, or CCW would easily fit there.
