Evidently, I have the carcass of a 67-72 chevy on my property.

The bed and back half of the frame are a trailer.

What kind of differential am I expecting to have? 5 lug pattern, a ford 5x5.5 fits nicely on it. Anything special about this box? Its structurally OK just thin floor. I am, however, looking for a tailgate. Does anything else in this world cross in terms of fit. im looking to make an enclosed trailer to store wood thats water sealed, if a square body tailgate will fit but not latch ill take it and rig something.

Anything from the dash board of value..? I potentially have items off it, they looked like 50s to me but the cab is the same color as the box. Im going to scour for its tailgate, you never know.

those beds are sought after, as most have rotted or been smashed. tailgates are rare for same reason. chevy ten bolts and some 12 bolts were under them. most of those were broken , replaced with non original. if no concern of offering it to someone for restoration, or to sell for $$, just tarp it?

It should be 6 lug if it's a 67-70. 71/72 were the first years for 5 lug an they are 5x5. Most Chevy are trailing arm suspension with coils, GMC were more leaf spring like a square.

Do you have any pictures you could post? I don't think a squarebody gate would fit.

I can post more.. this is only because I took a photo of a seat retractor. The shape of tail light made me think ford, but then saw a 70 gmc.,.. but maybe its ford..? I need defining traits lol. I can take a pic of rear end and tail gate hardware and tail light.

Agreed. Those fleetside trucks in that era may have looked somewhat similar but no where near identical.

After realizing this is indeed a ford bed i went and checked. identical colored 50s chevy and 60s ford. there IS a fender set for a 50s stepside. Ugh too much junk
There are THREE 4th gen impalas stacked on top of eachother.. rotting.... Im taking those sexy Chevrolet badges and putting them somewhere happy.

I'm not real sure because it depends on how some people classify the '58. Anywho, I love the full size Chevs especially the '65-'70. I have a '69 and '70 myself. I'd love to see pictures if it's not much trouble.

Definitely can get pics.. once snow is gone. and yeah, its a ford box. both of em(i have another i already knew was ford) but someone, my grandfather, shoved a 10 bolt under a ford box :shrug:Kinda like how he made 1 trailer from a chevy frame, box, springs, differential, etc but forwent the original mounting perches and shock location to weld in a post that keeps the springs from... springing.
