Which PAG Oil to Use

I recently bought one of the aftermarket A/C kits that has the compressor, evaporator, orifice tube, o-rings, and oil. It came with a bottle of Pag 150 oil, but it has this sticker on it. Does anybody know what I'm supposed to use?

the compressor is the only thing that needs oil in the system so if it says pag 46 that's what i would use. If in doubt call the company selling the kit.

When I rebuilt my A/C this turned out to be a more complicated question than I expected.
The most common oils are PAG 46 (very common use), PAG 100 (frequent), and PAG 150 (only a few use it). Then the instructions for my Vintage Air compressor said it used SP 15, which I later found out to be equivalent to PAG 100.

I would just buy PAG 46 and go with it. Its most important for the compressor to have the right oil, and AFAIK the PAG 150 they gave you is only used in a few GM compressors brands. However, you might have to get PAG 46 from online or maybe NAPA, because the typical parts store don't seem to carry it.

Another questions would be whether you are replacing an A6 or H6 with another GM compressor, or is it only an equivalent form factor replacement? For example, a real GM A6 might use 150, but an equivalent (Pro6Ten, etc.) may not.

When I replaced my R10's AC compressor, 3+ years ago I used PAG 150.
It's the R4 style and haven't had any issues.

Unless PAG 150 supersedes 46, I would go with what was recommended on the compressor.

Have you checked with the seller?

I always used PAG 150 with an R4 system, but never with anything else.

Doesn't surprise me that the R4 has its own.

I don't remember if that's what they called for, that's just what I always used. It helped keep the "exploding donut" quiet and maybe helped them last longer too.

It is an A6 compressor

what you have in the picture does not look like an A6

I did use pag 150 when i did my r134 retrofit.

It is the same as what you have in that picture, but it is silver instead of black. I have that same bracket setup too.

The new R4s do call for 150, but I thought V5s and A6s did also in their R134a configurations. I’d call them and ask.
