Yeah that's a CUCV brush guard I got on craigslist a long time ago, and I just don't really like it on the truck, it makes it look lower. Plus the truck it came off at the junkyard was poorly painted and half of the air dam is covered in blue overspray
I'd tear it off too. They look stupid and would have almost no use on a square body since it's function would not outweigh the bad looks in my opinion.

On my work truck those air dams always come off in a year or less. There a terrible idea on a 4wd , they get torn off so easy. Me and about almost every other Forester I know has them torn off in about the first year. There the first thing to bottom out in mud and the first think that branches and sticks seem to tear off.

I had a '99 Silverado Z71 and noticed that in the owner's manual, it actually said to remove the air dam before going offroad.

Is that the valence that bolts to the botom of the bumper and goes around the tow hooks?

We remove them alright. Often left in the road..or you stop and throw it in the back. My current dodge I have it tore it off when the bumper plated on the road when I was crossing the low water crossing that had been blown out in the recent rainfall the night before. When I got up to the log deck. I ripped it off the rest of the way and tossed it in the bed.

I think there was one that's below the lower half of the bumper that is what your talking about I think.

Yeah. The piece that if it's missing, the bumper looks very ridiculous.

I have torn off every air dam on every truck that I use for work that I have ever had or they were done prior to me. Now I started in my current job in 06 though so not that many trucks. The 04 blazer I had it was gone when I got that truck. The 07 Dakota the other Forester tore that off before it was passed to me. My 12 Colorado it lasted I think a year or two before I tore it off-road. And the 16 Ram1500 I have now lasted 6-12 months before it ripped off.

I also poked a hole in the Dakota gas tank off-road where the truck was bottoming out.

Just stuck the Ram last week. I had just driven the road the day before no problem and it had water in the tracks so I didn't know it was deep. I was only driving like 2mph when I got into this hole. It was too late already on the frame. This hole was so deep the inner fender skirt was bent back when pulled out from hitting the mud. I had another truck try to winch me out with an 8000 pound winch and couldn't move me an inch. The skidder came and pulled me out though:) Had I still had a front air thingy I'm sure this would of taken it out!

Glad you had a rescue ranger handy. Other than that, looks fun !! :D

Goldie has one of those air dams that hangs a bit lower than the tow hooks. If it ever gets ripped off by mud it means I am in DEEEEEEEEEEEP shiiit ...
