I think you're going to be snacking for a while. He ain't been back since he said he was walking out the door.

It's going to be different around here now. People will no longer be duped into thinking that the crappiest year for the 6.2 diesel was the holy grail of GM products.

This was pretty epic. Someone has a short fuse.
Nothing unfriendly was said. More just giving solid reasons why you (@82diesel ) should upgrade. But to each their own.

I think I just made it unfriendly. Whoops.

I read the whole thread. You guys made comments about an inferior trans, he got offended and started getting defensive. Then maybe a little fun happened but it wasn’t that bad. Not like some sites out there that would draw some vivid pictures of degrading yourself in front of a mall full of people for mistaking a 350/400 as a similar trans.

This is a great site with great members and awesome information.

Yet again @bucket goes sticking his fat bucket head in where it wasn't wanted. You've been warned before. Haven't you learned??

I'd take 'power breakes' over a diesel any day of the week. :dogpile:

I normally don't post comments like I did but I totally took offense when he said, "This Forum..." and "you guys..." It was obvious he wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed long ago but he still got help and several have tried to steer him in the right direction. Obvious, he believes what he believes and he's entitled to that, but when you got attacking us as a group you can kiss my ass.

Personally found it humorous as well as informative. Basically the exact qualities I'm looking for in a forum. :badger_1:

Does anyone remember when he made a big deal out of quitting last time? He said nothing was happening on this site and we are all lame so he deleted his avatar picture and hauled himself over to 67-72 where all the action was. Turns out they care even less about his ‘82 NOS beauty than we do so back he came, reloaded the cowboy hat cat and try to get some good “red block” discussions going. If only he could find a place where all his orphan turds could be loved like he loves them...

Would it be provocative to say the THM 200 made its debut in the 1976 Chevette and Vega, for which it was designed? Then someone at GM said for the 1977 model year, "hey, lets put as many of these as we can in nearly every car line. It will generally last as long as the warranty".
Still looking at the T and H cars, "While we are at it, let's put these R4 compressors in nearly everything too. Think of all the money we will save and the size of the bonuses we'll get"!
And thus, the NOS part business was born...

So I did a quick search and found no less than 50 of those transmissions within 200 miles of Holland. A couple minutes could have saved our resident junk collector a lot of trouble.

Well I doubt the guy would really want to drive to Georgia, but I have a working 200 Metric sitting on the shelf that I pulled out of my sons '85 El Camino that we did a V8 swap on last year, it was a 4.3 car with about 100k on it. We replaced it with a th350 that I had sitting around. Like everyone else has said it went right in with no mods what so ever other that running the vac line. But if he wants to make a road trip he can have it, I was just going to scrap it anyway.

But has anyone actually seen this 82 gem that he’s supposedly collecting NOS parts for? Has he ever posted a pic or started a thread on it? I have my suspicions as to whether he actually has any of the junk he posts about. Most of us post the junk we work on at least every once in a while but not him.

I think what you have is a 200-4R, which, IMO, can be quite nice. Before that was the TH200 (?), which didn't have OD.

The THM 200C was the base automatic transmission with the new 4.3L V6 for '85. I'm not sure that the 200R4 was ever offered with the 4.3 in the G-body.
