removing rear over load spring??

want to lower the rear about 3 inches.. got drop shackles and then was going to remove the overload spring.. abybody done this.. 81.. it will not be hauling anything

It won't lower it any, at least not on the other trucks I've pulled them on. They're kind of a last resort to the spring pack bending backwards.

Are we talking about the additional leaf springs that came on some square bodies in the rear? Ive heard of them but curious where they mount.
