Was expecting a gov bomb, when he popped the cover and i saw springs i got excited! Told me it was from a 90' k5 blazer wich apparently would be a v1500 blazer???? Brakes look ****** and im not sure if it has HD brakes or not but...
You might want to pull an axle shaft and count splines. Maybe you can use the 5 lug axles in your new differential. I bet you can also swap backing plates and all your brake parts too

Good point... but i actually want to swap to 6 lug. Id love to keep my backing plates and brake setup as its still factory to the truck and its all new hardware and shoes not even a year ago.

Last week the kids had Monday off of school.
Junior went to the Pick N Pull with 4 buddies and were looking for stuff for their trucks.
I told him to look for big block Chevy stuff.

Lo and behold he found one and called me.
He just wanted the valve covers to put on to the 454 in our truck.
I asked how complete it was and he proceeded to tell me nobody had touched the engine or transmission.

SCORE!

I told him I wanted it all.
Engine, transmission, and driveshaft.
Now I have a 1998 Gen 6 454/7400 Vortec engine and all the parts off of it.
A 4l80 transmission and matching driveshaft.

They spent all day there getting the thing free just before closing time.
Oh and the best part was it was a sale day, so all parts pulled from the yard were 40% off.
The engine was a massive $120, while the transmission broke the bank at $83.
The entire bill was $445 with all the little items and core charges.
Not bad at all.

Then just yesterday we all attended a swap meet to see what we could find.
I was on the hunt for a set of BBC roller rockers and an intake for it.
I found the rockers right out of the gate, so no haggling discount on those.
They were $100, but new they are $350 or so.
No intake I wanted was found as I didn't have a super gas car to put a gazillion dollar intake on.
But I did also find a Summit brand HEI for $40 that had less than 100 miles on it, so that made up for the lack of intake.

Junior found all kinds of goodies for his '55 Bel Air.
I have taught him to haggle and he does it very well.
He went with $400 and he spent every last one of them.
His most prized deal is the set of new-ish Cragar 15x8 wheels for his car.
They were advertised at $250 and he got the owner down to $200 on his own.
He is 17 just so ya know....
On the way out there was the one last table.
He was eyeballing an MSD 6AL-2 box on the table when the guy seated behind it saw his sweatshirt.
Max was wearing his high school sweatshirt and asked him if he knew a girl named Katie that was a junior there.
He said yes and they struck up a conversation about his bel air.
The guy asked to see a photo of it and Max showed him.
He goes "I know exactly where you live. I drive by there all the time and look at those cars."
Max picked the box up for a steal at $80 due to the chit chat and such.

We also found a nifty looking dirt track air cleaner that will be cleaned up and run on the squarebody.
We argued that guy down from $10 to $8 for it and it has a K&N filter in it to boot!

What gang are those boys in?

The gang is called "Tigard HS Automotive Tech Dorks"
My son happens to be the president, as I raised him right and the auto shop teacher voluntold him that he is the president of the after school club.

Auto class was easy for Max.
It got to the point that when the teacher would be asking the class questions, he would have to say "Anyone but Max?"

It was a joke cause of the one sitting up there n the fender flashing gang signs.

I wish my school had an auto shop class. It didn't. I have taught myself everything I know from tv and people and trial and error, and books. Now I use YouTube and forums but my younger years were a few years before those even.
