I like the placement of it. I was trying to figure out where to put mine as I didn't really want to drill into the dash but at this point I know this truck is mine for life so do what I want with it, right? Just need to find out where a whip looks good on a Suburban...I don't have a roof rack yet

That's about where it was in our truck too. Only one permanent disfigurement of the dash because Dad repurposed an existing hole for one of the two.

I still have the CB and the K40, but don't know that it's worth putting back. X-cept for that PA accessory,...

On second thought,... that will just get me into trouble.

Lol. I just ordered the PA speaker. May as well have it completely functional

I just bought a President Bill and President New York setup. The CB is nice and compact and although the antenna isn't a whip it's supposed to be a good performer. I did a lot of research on President radios and they are top notch. I'll either get another Bill for the truck or may go with a Johnson III. I've never had a CB in a vehicle, but I told my wife if anything happens and cell signal goes down for whatever reason, if we have a base station and cb's in our cars we can still communicate. I need to get a base station antenna and some coax to hook up my Bearcat 980 as a base station. I even got a micro-mobile setup for when we're camping or out orienteering. So we will have multiple forms of communication to choose from.

Most people mount it under the stereo, but I didn't care for that. Too close to the gas pedal. The way I mounted it still allows the ash tray to open and close without any issues also

I had mine under the ash tray as well. Used the existing mounting screws for the ash tray. Works very well there.

Those screws didn't line up right with my mount, so I had to put it just below it

Where did you mount the mic?

Edit....

Nevermind, I zoomed in and saw the screws.

I just used an existing screw in the area you see it. It works, but could always be moved. I just hate to drill holes for it, especially since it seems like it would be angled kinda funny

Yea I know they still use them. I am really around a lot of people with them. I am a Forester, all the trucks have them, lots of crews have them in their equipment and most of the ones who run crews or the owners have them in their trucks. It was just kind of a joke since every one of us rednecks doesn't have one anymore.

I don't live on the coast anymore but all those guys had one I. Their trucks for dog hunting. I bet some do, esp the old school guys but I bet most of them may use cell phones to talk when there going around.
Loggers in my area still use them.

I put my Maxrad on the center of my roof. It unscrews if I have to park in the over park downtown.

Wow...there's actually worthwhile traffic from truckers on CB? Only things I've heard in the past decade are strings the filthiest insults you've ever heard, 5 minute long beeps, and some of the worst interference from "peaked and tuned" radios that just have the limiters clipped out and gains cranked to the max.

Then again, the ham bands aren't much better...clean language, but just a bunch of old farts talking about their breakfast choices and daily bowel movements, lol.

Got the PA feature mounted under the hood. I drive quite a bit with my dog in the bed of the truck, and I was impressed today that even while driving, I can tell him to sit or settle down if need be and he can hear me really well. Cool! Plus, I reserve the right to cat call a hot girl I pass by, like I'm a high school kid or something [emoji1787]. Doubt I'll ever do that, but I COULD

I doubt that, but it wouldn't stop a snowflake from whining

One of my college buds had a pa on a 76 Dodge van - you could hear him on the highway.

In my RamCharger it was never that loud - no idea why.

Fun stuff, but too many crazies now although I do shoot back if required ...

Here is a couple pics of the setup in my truck. My wife was really pissed when she noticed I had cut up the dash to install it. I found a truck that had been smashed up in a salvage yard, I bought all the interior pieces to replace the modified stuff when/if I’m ready to get something else.
