Oh you always need a good rope no doubt and a high jack ... plus max trax are nice too ... for some real challenges... not just clearance and big tiers for dry rocks ... no offense to rock crawlers

Thought perhaps I'd throw out you can do more than just lift a vehicle by the bumper with a high lift jack....

Tuck the bumper as much as you are comfortable with. Don't do one of those huge underbite bumpers. Lol

I have had that cheap H.F. winch for years. Not the strongest or fastest but never let me down.

On the last 2 outings the Jeep guys I was with have winches and the twice someone needed to be pulled out... and both times the winch broke. These are the "good" Warn winches also.

I used my Voodoo rope and pulled them out instead.

77 K20, I 99% snow wheel no rocks or mud for me. We used to always go with a shovel, high lift Jack, and chains and always made it home. A lot of people would be surprised what you can get out of with just a shovel and a high lift Jack. A winch with receivers for both the front and back of the vehicle would be mighty handy though Yes I've seen my share of winches break. I attribute it more to operator error lol. The Lewis Chain saw winch will pull 8000 lbs enouph to do some serious work but not enouph to rip the front axle from underneath your vehicle which I have also seen happen ! Ultimately I'm thinking if a person had a bumper mounted winch along with Lewis Winch would be a great way to roll

Sounds like you have a good plan and know what to bring.

I had to look up where in Oregon where you live. So you get lots of wet heavy snow over there I bet.

Biggest thing is try to go with someone else or if you can't at least let others know where you are going.

In the spring or fall if I'm heading up to the mountains where there is still snow I even throw a mountain bike in the back. Riding a bike out is much faster than walking if something happened.
