Im hoping it just fell off the pivot ball. I made 2 round trips that were a about 800 miles each with no problems. Then when i was going to pick up a trailer from a broke down ferd it started acting up. The amount of play in the clutch fork makes me kinda think it fell off the ball. I can move the clutch fork in every direction about 1/4 to 1/2 in. If it fell off the ball is that fixable without pulling the tranny? If the throwout bearing is installed wrong i gotta pull the trans correct?

Yes and no ... the ball yes should be able to snap back on .. but if it's popped off already it will unfortunately happen agian ... the spring retainer is probably lost it's luster... as for the throwout bearing i highly doubt it's bad.. being fresh and not many miles... so if I were you ... I would one get a new clutch fork ... next pull your drive shaft or shafts ... and undo trans crossmember bolts and the trans mounting bolts ... use a jack in the rear and a good! Ratchet strap under the ball housing ... all you need is a few inches ... slide the trans back swap the fork ... and slide it all back together ... 4hr job with beer breaks ... done it ... better then dropping it all out and back up ... I run 4x4s tho ... so the added t case is a pain to drop all out and back in ... changed a clutch with it suspended before as well

Don’t mean to off topic or thread jack but you can float shift the 465 ? I’ve only been able to do it from 3rd to 4th, can you float shift from 2ns to 3rd or 1st to 2nd ?

If you're going to dink with the fork or replace it, I'd install a new pivot ball with a dollop of axle grease on it as well.

The 1st to second is sometimes tricky. But 2 to 3 is nice around 27 to 32 mph. I dont use low so i never count that.

Theres enough play with the imput shaft still in most of the way to get the fork on both the bearing and the ball? And can i do it without pulling the bellhousing or do i need to pull that too

The throwout bearing comes in two different sizes I believe. Make sure it matches your old one
