Shouldn't change much besides ride height and load capacity. How many leaves are in your pack?

Hmm that's kind of odd I think. Most 1-ton's had 8 leaves or more, at least that I've seen.

Either way, if you don't pull or load much weight, losing a few leaves shouldn't matter.

Mine had 8 or 9 leaves, I removed the bottom thick one and then every other one after that. It lowered the truck 2 - 3 inches and definitely improved the ride.

Any pics? isn't that thick one to keep from breaking springs?

The bottom overload doesn't prevent breakage. When I pulled mine out to have them rebuilt the #8 leaf was broken on this one and the #7 on the other.

The bottom is the factory overload. It gives the rest of the spring pack a base to rest on to give the full capacity of the spring. The top spring is the secondary over load. Once you get enough weight in the truck it contacts the tabs on the frame.

I removed one of the lower leafs in my pack during the rebuild to give a little softer ride knowing I had the top leaf if I ever loaded the truck down heavy.
