Truck lite 27270c:
I picked up some extra cash on a side job. I decided to upgrade my headlights. While I know that there are brighter (jw speaker) i chose to try the truck lites for these reasons. 1. DOT compliment. I don't want to be one of the numerous ********** that are running off-road lights on the highway. 2. Looks. I wanted something that is at least similar to the stock look. Bug eye, spider eye, and green halo just aren't for my truck. 3. Price. Yes there are cheaper, but truck lite has dropped by almost $100 per headlight in the past 8 months making it competitive with the knock offs. 4. Warranty. While a few headlights are a bit cheaper, most have zero warranty.
The halogens in the truck just weren't cutting it. My drives to hunting and sometimes for work are in the dark on country roads in heavy deer country, exactly like the photos are taken on. As you can see in the pictures, the truck lite, even on dim is brighter than the halogens, especially into the ditch area. The truck lites do have some shadows, which I was aware of prior to purchase. They are not very noticeable when driving, but they are there.
The distance to the weeds at the very end of the road is exactly 96 yards in all pics.
Lastly, absolutely a perfect fit in my 79. Zero adjustments to anything, just plugged in and button up. 15 min max to change.
With each photo I was standing directly between the two headlights with my back touching the pushbar. In order they are halogens dim, halogens bright, truck lite dim, truck lite bright, appearance. I hope this can be helpful for other round eye owners.

Well I was just looking at lights since my low beam on the passenger side took a crap on me.
I’ll look into these

The pictures don't really show the real difference.
With the halogens on bright, i could just barely make out the weeds at the end of the road. With the truck lite i could easily see bushes and trees another 40 yards beyond the weeds. That's over 400 feet.
I would expect that the glow from a deer's eye should be much more visible, and hopefully get me to and from where im going with less chance of incident.

I did an "auto correct" on my phone which is closer to what the headlights look like. Both are of high beam. Halogens first, truck lite second.
Glad to answer any questions if I can.

Has anyone done the 4x6 Truck-Lite LED in their 4 headlight system? If so, do they mount up correctly or do you have to do any modifications? I'm looking at putting a set in my '85, just curious as to what I may be in for.

I think i figured out most of my shadows in my light pattern. After doing adjustments to the headlights, but the shadow doesn't move, i saw that its my pushbar blocking/reflecting the light as the output is much wider than the halogens so it hits the flat edge on the sides.

As for price, i paid $310 total for 2 headlights a couple months ago.

I have a set of the Trucklite 5x7 "single" headlights in my 85. They fit the factory headlight bucket with no mods and plugged right into the harness.

So, what type of modifications did you do to get your '85 to a single headlight system? I'm new to the square body scene, just trying to educate myself.

Probably nothing. 5x7 Single square headlights were standard from 81-87 the dual/Quad headlights were optional.

Thanks for the reply, I'll do a little more research to see if that's a viable option for my truck.

my 85 is a factory single light truck. If your truck is a factory 4 headlight system, you also have to change the core support. Probably easier to get the 4x6 lights.

Thanks for the info, I'm sticking with the 4 headlights, just trying to talk myself into spending that money!
