I have an Edelbrock carb with an electronic choke. The PO wired the red choke wire to the part that's cut. I verified that it only gets power when the key is turned. I cleaned up the connection and redid it, so the truck still works, but I'm wondering what this plug is intended for? Does it go to the oil pressure sending unit? That gauge doesn't work on my cluster. Everything else works though, so I'm a little baffled as to what this plug is for.

The plug almost looks like the altenator plug.... dont hold me to that. I ran a red wire with a male blade connector from a key hot fuse in the fuse box out through the firewall to my choke... correct way??? No but it works and i was in a hurry to get it on the road.

OK, help me understand this then. My alternator is obviously plugged in and working, so why would this plug be available?

Will it reach the front of the head? Dual alternator set up?

it might be just barely long enough to reach the front of the head, but not to where my current alternator is.

Here's a Pic from yesterday when I was changing out the valve cover gaskets

No smog pump. More likely AC Compressor.
Even though it's a non AC truck, and always has been?
