Nope....still here. Just listening. lol

I found a new LS bare block for cheap. Just adding up now what it would take to make it whole and maybe stroke it, better pistons, etc while I'm at it. Debating on using all stock, reflashing the ECU, etc or just starting over with all new and maybe an aftermarket tuneable system.

I know there's big price differences but I have no idea how much.....might be worth it - might not.

It will nickel and dime you to death. Buy a complete runner.

I'll take that Eagle stroker crank for a BBC off your hands if you're just going to throw it away! Lol

It spun a rod bearing and the jackwad put a pipe wrench on the snout. So it isn't really worth fixing.

Sounds like you have a small block chevy and most of these comments are about Big Blocks.
You could probably get what you want out of a cam, intake, headers and carb. If your wanting to do some trick stuff use a good GM forged crank a set of H beam eagle 6" rods and forged pistons and put you money into cylinder heads. Bigger is not always better match them to what you have.

Unless you want a full race motor.

No race motors.....it will be a work horse, hauling, towing, etc. The numbers on a stroked 6.0L is pretty amazing.

Local guy who builds motors - 40+ yrs and very good with lots of posi-feedback by picky people - is who suggested it, and he knows my name isn't First National Bank. He said with a new block and components there might be some machining, honing, etc., but nothing on the level of bringing in a 300k motor and putting it back to 100%. He also said to just get a new stand alone engine management that can be tuned. My concern is always the peripherals...sensors, brackets, pulleys, etc. - the little things that eat up 75% of any build. If I dive into this and go this all-new route, might hit up some of these CL ads where they are bulk-parting out motors and pick up all the brackets and such.

I'm so far behind on this last resto I'm doing (latest delay: guy that did my plating stuck a full syringe of fentanyl into his groin and went to sleep) that I doubt its something I have to decide on before next Spring. But still want to know the road everyone else has traveled thus far. Even the trans place told me not to spend alot of $ on a low mileage transmission....just get a core as they exchange them anyways.

So it will dent the wallet good but I think it can be done. If I wanted to go cheap, I'd slap some Vortec heads, a new intake and better cam on the 350 thats in it and call it good. That could happen too.

(a new stand alone engine management ) this is where you can get reliable performance and mileage but a good one cost good money.
