Here is a simple mod how-to if you wanted to change your shifter knob on your column shifter.

Cut off the rubber cover over your stock shifter knob. You cant twist it off so dont even bother. Youll just damage the linkage if you try to twist it off. I had to pick up my kids at the elementary school so I just slit it with pocket knife while in line at the kids pick up. Just slice it down the middle and peal it. There is a little grease under the skin.

After you cut off the gray or black rubber skin you will find a hard white plastic piece underneath. Do NOT remove it because its the best insert for your new shifter! You need it!

Now get a dremel or if you have it, a die grinder with a larger drum sander bit on it. Because you need to shape this white piece into a cylinder.

Throw a sheet over your gauges because a storm of white plastic dust will cover everything as you shape the hard plastic piece into a cylinder.

Be sure you have a air nozzle handy to blow yourself off and everything else off after.

As you start to shape that white plastic piece into a perfect cylinder keep checking to see if your new knob will fit on it.

If you do a good job your new knob will tighten down so securely on the hard plastic that it wont wiggle or wobble at all. Its such a tight fit it feels like it came from the factory. Best part is now any after market shifter knob can fit on it, so buy a few and change them at will. I know I will be collecting a few now. I almost got a floor shifter but this too much fun.

Just take your time and be patient grinding the white plastic piece into a perfect cylinder. I put burb into drive just to grind it perfectly and went around the piece over and over again in circles. Probably about 40-50 times and I got a perfect cylinder, the shifter knob fit over it tight like a glove! .

Oh and dont forget to use blue loctite on the bolts.

If you used my tutorial drop me some kudos in the comments and upload a pic so i can see it too!
