I have an 86 K30 Standard cab long box, HT502, T400, 205 Tcase and a corporate 14 3:73 gears. I wanted it to stop screaming at me on the freeway and hopefully increase my mileage so I bought a 4l80E and a gear vendors od. Before I installed them I lifted it 4 maybe 5 inches(I forgot to measure the before) and put 35’s on. I am concerned if I move the tcase back two inches and install the GV will the driveline angle be a concern.
An old guy I work with tells me “Chevy put millions into this truck to develop it and you think you can improve it with 10k.”
Anybody have any experience with this.
Thanks

I am thinking the 4 speed 5l80e and a gearvendor will put you below where you motor makes power and the mileage will really suffer.

35s, 3.73s and a .75 final drive will put you at 1800rpm on the freeway. How low of rpm do you want to turn?

Likely just the 4l80e will be enough.

Overdrive on an overdrive transmission...?
Too low of rpm will give you worse mpg.

I work for a GV dealer/installer. They do make kits for many applications. Fo you have adapter kit and electronics from the previous installation, or just the unit it self?

I have part number 3 DO205B overdrive kit AC fixed and part number 3S0034 Speedo sleeve & gear T. According time to the packing list. I called GV to find out what I had and if I could make it work, but the tech guy was not available today.

I'm sure they should be able to identify it. But, if you don't have any luck, post or send me a few pictures of the adapter housing. Particularly the transmission side, I may be able to tell by looking at it. All the 4x4 applications we have done, the GV unit installs on the rear of the Tcase.
