I'm looking for insight on exhaust ideas. My current system is true duals dumped before rear axle. I will probably do the same but change it to super 10 or 44 flowmaster

How loud to you want it? 10's are single chamber, 40's are dual. When I get around to the exhaust on my truck I'm going with the Super 40's due to the larger case size (5" thick vs. 4" for the 10's & 40's). Supposedly it gives a deeper tone. I'm also going to run a cross-over pipe.

I have a true dual setup with headers and no cats dumped just like yours with super 44s. Its loud and droney at times, i suggest putting them under the box and not half under the cab like mine are. It sounds killer at 3-4k though. Ive also had super 10s.

Another option are the Flomaster FX series. They are baffled versus chambered and give a nice deep tone. I have true duals with two of these and the sound is nice without being too obnoxious.

I did mine that way just to annoy people that use the word obnoxious J/K, drown out passengers, drown out Hondas, and drown out people with bass(windows go up fast when I rap this to about 4500).

Mostly cause I freaking love it.

Got resonance? Want more? Flowmasters are the answer. :)

All kidding aside, I had a pair of 50 Delta Flows on a 69 C10 longbed with tailpipes running back to the bumper. Even with a crossover pipe, those things caused resonance out the *****. Eventually went to Walker Dynomax Super Turbos with 20" case, which have a subdued rumble, more like OEM performance mufflers with minimal resonance. And a test run by David Vizard showed them to have less back pressure than Flowmasters (probably the originals). I like the Dynomax mufflers so much, I put the same model number on my 82 C10.

Speaking of my 69 C10, it's now my son's. When he had the truck semi-restored by S&S Motorsports in Sarasota, they installed a pair of Magnaflows (I don't know the model number.) They are probably 7-8 out of 10 on the loudness scale, but they sound really nice and have surprisingly little drone. No beer can sound, just old school rumble.

Gotta brag on his truck here!

I like them both honestly. Ive had my 44s on for like 3 years so im used to the sound. In my current setup im cruising 75 on the highway at 3k and she just growls right along nicely. If i let off at that speed the 44s let off a good amount of back rumble... ya know that "brub brub brub brub" if i was to switch id either got hooker aerochambers or pypes violators... ive never heard pypes yet for sure.

I have headers, 3" pipes, chambered Thrush mufflers run over rear axle and dump behind rear wheels. It has a deep mellow rumble with little to no drone inside cab. But. ... When I feel like beastly loud I hit the electric cutouts and they dump 18" behind the headers. Even old timers like a little excitement !!

Opposite end of the spectrum, what is the quietest muffler I can get? Duals, no cats, 2.25 pipes.
