Will be a fun project. Been trying to get my hands on a friend of a friend's 1986 in South Austin, has 57,000 original miles on it and is absolutely mint but they won't let it go yet.

Just talked to a friend a few days ago he found an all original 84 Elco with a Factory Oldsmobile 5.7 Diesel in it. It'd be the first for me! I've seen a few in the 78 - 80s. Sure is a Collector car to the Olds Diesel guys.

My Dad had an El Camino when I was a kid, always had a soft spot for them. Looks like a pretty decent starting point for the project especially with the new drive train.

Wondering how this one is doing

Currently buried in the garage, go figure.

Ended up moving on super short notice at the beginning of the year and haven't had time to do anything with it yet. I've been working on getting the new garage cleaned up and organized from the move, so I can get the current engine out of the car, do the floor pan, and get the LS installed. It sounds so easy! :D

Well...it only took me 4.5 years to get the floor pan into the car! Still have some finishing up and some brackets to finish welding in, but finally making progress again. Once the floor pan is fully in, the body is coming off the frame, and I'll be blasting the whole thing. Already have some Eastwood 2K Ceramic Chassis Black on hand to paint it up with. Also have a UMI Stage 2 handling kit on order, so that will be going on after the frame gets painted.

Going to hit up the junkyard for some 98-04' Blazer 2WD front spindles. They use a unitized bearing and hub that will accept C5 rotors, and a simple adapter bracket gets you the C5 caliper, as well. Hoping a Ford 9" will be in the works soon, too. Not sure the original 7.5" 10 bolt is up to the task after 43 years (and I'm not wasting money rebuilding it)!

Hoping it will be moving along a lot more swiftly from this point forward!
