Got what I believe to be small bearing front hubs and the outer races on both sides are loose enough to fit by hand. Inners are perfectly snug. I'm using Timken set 45's and Set 37's.

Has this happened to anyone?

Should I be worried?

Any short term fixes?

I'd love to hear any and all info.

Has this happened to anyone?

ive seen it on other cars usually after they spun a bearing.

Should I be worried?

if there is any slop yes.. either wrong bearing or worn hubs

Any short term fixes?

if there is no slop you can take a center punch and put 2 or 3 dimples in the hub before you put the race in. it will cause the metal to raise just enough to hold the race in place.

Ah, the infamous "Dutch Bushing". That, plus Loctite may be your answer.

Well I'll be having to make it work, but will be looking for new hubs as well.

Will hubs from other makes work as long as they're Dana 44, small bearing, with matching lugs?

Any suggestions on compatible vehicles?

Got a line on a 1979 front diff. Looks like I'll be upgrading to large spindles. Any advice. Not a lot of interest in this thread, but would love to get a thumbs up or down on the spindle conversion. I assume that the Corperate 10 bolt spindles will bolt right up...

You don't have to change the knuckles, unless you want to. The spindles and hubs are what needs to match.

Thanks. You think it's an upgrade? Am I getting any benefit besides just availability?

The availability is a big plus. Anything beyond that, eh. GM felt it was an upgrade though.

Things are looking up. I just scored a 1979 Corperate for $50. I'll probably be alright. Thanks for the assistance, and if you have any advice moving forward, I will listen...

It's a pretty easy swap, the hardest part is getting the spindle worked loose from the knuckle without damaging it. There's a couple methods of doing that, the easiest being a specialized puller tool.
