I’ve been looking for a new tailgate, I’m not a fan of my current ones style and between the failing bondo, bad paint, and numerous dents I’m ready to spend about 150 on one, but have read that some are so weak and poorly made that they’ll bend and dent when sat on, which I can’t have. Does anyone have good company recommendations for a tailgate? I really like this style:

I'm looking for the same thing. Exactly the same, actually.
AMD and LMC supposedly offer oem gauge with new tooling for around $200. I've seen a few good reviews, but mostly not. So I don't know if the bad reviews were for the cheapest ones or what.
I may end up trying to fix mine, but it's pretty ****** up between the big rust holes (that someone tried to bondo) and the lack of a band and dents and stuff.

LMC offers a licensed repro but you're not going to get it for $150. Supposedly licensed stuff has to meet OE standards. I haven't bought one yet, so no firsthand experience.

So if a repo tailgate has “Chevy” stamped in it, then it’s guarantied to meet good build standards as well?

Theoretically yes. If it's using a GM trademark it has to be a licensed reproduction.
