like the title says: dig up those pictures if you can of your high school car or the first car you restored.

dug this picture up of my first car going through an old external hard drive. got it at 14 for almost nothing. nobody in the air-cooled vw world wants super beetles except the "German Look" guys. had to pull the body off and weld in full pans as it was a Fred Flintstone special. block was rusted dead. I spent every dime I had on that car from money I'd been saving since 12 mowing neighbors lawns until I was 16 when I finished it. broke a few labor laws working to make money...shhh! didn't have much into it engine wise when this pic was taken my sophomore year of high school. just a 1641cc dual port with dual Webbers and fully merged header. I found a complete tmi interior at a swap meet from a guy who changed his mind on color schemes. the color of the interior dictated the exterior color of the car which was Porsche Mint Green. went through every aspect of that thing with an obsessive attention to detail.

anyway, here I am at 16 trying to look like it was no big deal, haha!

'69 Impala 4-door hardtop. 327/th350, 10bolt and 4-wheel drums. Left it stock for a while, just kept it clean and drove it. Eventually saved up enough pennies to do heads, cam and carb. I still have it too, but it's been in storage for about a decade.

Dang! I wish I still had my bug just for nostalgia purposes. I sold it to by my first work truck.

It will be interesting when I get the car unburied this summer, as it's stored in the garage seen in my picture. Back then, the house was clean, trimmed and tidy. That was before my parents split. Now it's just my mom, my lazy brother and a couple of his deadbeat friends that live there. It's amazing how downhill the place has went.

I have the same problem. My dad died, and my mom lives at the place with my lazy brother, and what was once a pretty square place even for the country is now a 24 karat shitopia.

First car:

Dad ordered it for my mom to drive; I got it when she was done.

I drove it to high school and dated my wife in this car. I still have both (not as trivial as I make it sound here):

1966 Mercury Comet Capri, 2dr. hdtp. was a 289 car with an auto, but i converted to 302 with T5. changed it from bench seat to mustang buckets and found a Cyclone hood for it. It was a fun project..

Took this picture a few days ago. First time this car has seen daylight since 1997. It only moved a few miles to my brother-in-laws shop because I was closing on my house the next day and it had to be moved pronto!

Nothing good, I was showing the good side. My son took it for a ride in a ditch on the other side but no hard hit just bent sheetmetal. Sitting all this time hasn’t helped either, I’ll bascially have to start over on it when I get my new abode remodeled to mamas liking.

This is a truck my buddy was given free by a customer. I posted previously in passing. His first “resto” although he’s paying someone else to do the work. Which is fine, infusing the economy and all!

I thought the mobile exhaust rig was interesting.

Terrible picture of my first square and first vehicle. 75 GMC 3/4 ton long bed. Dad bought it for me at 15 in 86 for $500. It was rusted to **** but had a great running 350 in it. Tranny was in good shape too. We replaced everything but, cab and hood. Lol. Loved that truck. Wish I still had it.
