That trans shop is full of ****. Yes there is. Here's the proof. And guess what all the military CUCV trucks got? Th400/NP208 combos.

Also, all the factory 208 trans combos used shafts the same length and also used the same holes for the t-case crossmember.

Yep, which is why I was going to pull this 305/700r4/NP208 combo and bolt in the 454/Th400/NP208 combo that goes in my K10 project to get my K5 running. Same crossmember, same driveshafts, EZ PZ. Then when I got the 350 built, I'd go back to 350/Th350wSpacer/NP208 in the K5 and put the 454/Th400/NP208 in the K10/20 project. Gotta love GM for interchangeability. This in the 80's and models through to 91 though. A bit different once you throw NP 205 and NP203 into the mix.

BTW, something else you might find that will also work, the NP241 will also work. Do keep in mind, the NP241's have the electonic speedo. Not sure the SM465 has a speedo drive on it or not. But if you can do without the speedo, or convert it to a electronic speedo cluster out of a 90 or 91 K5, Burb or 1 ton then you can also be sourcing a 32 spline NP241. It's also a direct bolt in, everything the same.

I kinda figured he was full of **** because there wouldn't be item numbers for a part that doesn't exist...now I'm just trying to figure out will the 32 tooth input fit the 27tooth input and planetary with no issues

I don't think I will need a spacer since I have the 32 spline output and the tail case is 10 inches long as well as recessed 1 1/2 inches with the bh it should be the same length as the 700 too if I'm reading right

To the best of my knowledge it's a straight swap but I'm not 100% certain, only 99%. Now if it were a NP205, going from 27 spline to 32 spline you have to machine the case for a bigger bearing and also have to replace the bearing with the input gear. But pretty sure the NP208 is straight swap gear only.

Yes, the NP208 combos are all the same length. The transmission length difference is made up in the adapters. That's why that adapter is so long. They make it the same length from bellhousing to end of the adapter the same as the 700r4, Th400 and even the A833 4 speed OD. All the same length so the driveshafts fit and crossmember goes in the OEM frame punched holes.

Yep, cuz it's pre 80's and they were different back then.

Yes you can swap just input gears in a NP208, Between 27 and 32 spline. I've done it many times, it may be tougher locating a 32 input.
