Hello all. Just curious what product you guys are using to preserve you dash pads with. Back in the '80's Armor All was the go to. But I'm hearing from folks that that did more harm than good. Thanks.

I think the best thing for them is reduce the interior heat. Keep the interior ventilated as much/often as possible and use a sun shade in the windshield when parked in the summer.

These dash carpets seem to work well -

No idea where to get them, though.

I got 1 for each of my other 2 vehicles from dashmat.com. Have not done that for my square yet. May not, not sure. My dash is in good condition, no cracks. I think it is another name now.

  1. I fixed my 1980 k20 dash problem, I have owned it since 1981, and the tan colored dash was full of ugley cracks. I finally boke down and bought a Dashmat pad for under $50, took 20 minutes or more to install, and it looks awesome. When I look around at the interior of my truck, this is the best interior cosmetic investment I have ever made. Go with BLACK only! The black velveteen that they use on these mats is the only color that does NOT REFLECT back on your windshield! I've bought many dash covers, and I will never buy anything else now but BLACK!!!!!!!!!!!!

The miracle snake oil is what probably caused them to crack. Back in the 80's it was Armor All...
