Zinc is acidic. All that jazz about adding zinc is complete and total hogwash and is A detriment past break in. But don't take my word for it...

It's no different than me telling you that marijuana will cure all that ails you. It's a new discovery. All you need is to buy CBD oil and rub it where it hurts. Or smoke the pot and it will cure EVERYTHING.We should legalize it.

When in reality, it is a toxic chemical that will kill you and causes permanent neurological damage.

All you gotta do is add a little bit of ZDDP and your forty year old engine will last forever!
Smoking marijuana will cure arthritis and end depression!

Shop.Spend.Consume.
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain!
Will that be cash or credit?

I've used nothing but Wal Mart oil for years and never had a problem. I understand it's made by Warren Performance Products, which bought Quaker State. I change my oil and filter every 3000 miles, which is probably ridiculous, but always have. I used Wal Mart filters, too, until I found them cheaper at Rock Auto. Makes it easy as both my cars use the same filter. If the oil you use has the API symbol on it, it's good. Too, Home Depot occasionally puts Shell oil on sale for $9.97 for a five quart jug. Wal Mart is just below 12 bucks for five quarts, so I stock up on the Shell when it's on sale.

Another thing, don't worry about what the manual says for the weight for you car oil. They want you to believe that using the thinner oils gives you better mileage as it's easier to pump. Maybe, but so what, you may pick up 1/2 to 1 MPG. If your manual say 5W-20, it won't hurt anything to use 10W-20 or even 10W-30. I do, and it hasn't hurt anything. I've even talked to the dealer about it, and they say it's okay. Learn what those numbers mean, and you'll understand a bit better.

You diesel owners, Wal Mart also sells a 15w-40 heavy duty diesel oil. Probably made by the same company as their regular motor oil, but much cheaper than Rotella, or the other high dollar diesels oils.

It's not rocket science..two things kill oil

Heat and dirt.if you race or do hard use.or you do not change the filter.say every two thousand miles.

You notice the vehicle still comes with just one engine filter.not two or three.they want the engines to go out.

Because of oil.kill the warenty.in the old days we used 10/40.some people.the old guys.used 30 weight.big block engines

As the people got dumer and more complained about lifter noise.on cold winter mornings

They switched to 5/30 ..the engines.the last place to get oil.is the heads.oil gets hot.some burns.and it gets in to your filter

When they changed the engine design up.years ago.they went from pressure too volume.

Flow.i went to look at a car one time.for sale.it was making a noise.engine was gone.the stupid man said.i don't know why it's doing that

I used. Snythic.like royal purple or something.i just laughed.all oil and filter has to be changed.

No matter what the oil.or what you pay for it.all those oil change places.use recycled oil.as far as I know.its cleaned and additives are added back to the oil

I like 10/40 and even 20/50 .good oil if you run a strong.horse power engine.that lukcus oil treatment

Sounds Sood.but have not used it.

If your engine has a flat tappet cam, using an oil with high levels of ZDDP (zinc and phosphorus) is a good idea. However, I've seen Chevy 350s with stock or mild cams and valve springs run for >10 years using whatever name-brand oil is on sale. I personally prefer something like 10W-30 Valvoline Racing oil with a high level of ZDDP. But don't use the bottle labeled "Not Street legal", because that oil is meant for only a few hundred miles of use (has little to no detergents, as I recall).

Another decent solution for mild cams and valve springs is Mobil 1 5W-30, 10W-30, and 5W-20 which have a higher ZDDP content than most conventional oils. And their 20W-50 is higher still. I got this info from a Mobil 1 chart awhile back.

Finally, I stay away from additives after initial break-in, because I'm not a petrochemical engineer and have no idea how a 3rd party additive will combine with an oil's existing additive package.

Use this REAL additive and you can use any off the shelf oil you'd like,

I like to add a tiny bit of Moly, but you'd only want/& need a very small amount of zinc to be present.

The lubrication technology this is made from has been proven, and you can even drop down to a lighter viscosity and still have greater film strength.

Just went for a free oil change a Chevy dealer. The only oil they use is full synthetic made by Mobil1.

That stuff has me intrigued, especially reading the reviews. Never heard of it before

Were you dropped on your head as a child?

I have a feeling he was using the "speech to text" without proof-reading...
At least, I hope that's what it is.
