They die halves are reversible for different sizes. Double check that. I thought mine would be a mfer, so I hit it with wd40 the day before. I also used a battery impact. The vibration may have helped. It came right off.

Trying to press my pulley off my power steering pump. Will. Not. Come off! Does it not press off??
The pump is crap anyways. Hit the end of the pulley with a torch, then spray it with WD. Watch out for flare-ups. Do that a few times, and it will slide right off with the puller.

Yeah. The tool won't get it off. It started to pull the ring off the pulley as you see in the picture.
This isn't ment to be a negative comment at all. It just seems like you haven't done too much with these, and that's cool. You'll find lots of help here, as long as the question isn't answered easily by a simple Google or site search....

Do you have a torch of any kind?

Looks like the puller didn't fit very snug and it shifted to one side. Apply heat to the hub of the pulley (stay away from the shaft) and try again with the puller, just slide the collar onto the pulley where it's not highly damaged yet.

The tool destroyed my pulley. Cant reuse it now so I just ordered a new one for my new steering pump.

Do you have a tilt column? I was thinking about this issue and thought of the u-joint in the column might be trashed since you've replaced everything else. Did you have someone watch the steering components while you move the steering wheel back and forth?

Seems solid from the steering wheel to shaft to steering box input and output. The problem I see is that the amount of turn I have to give the steering wheel is way too much to make the steering box turn the drag link.

Only time ive ever changed a ps pump i rented the puller and it pulled right off.

I still think something is up with the puller. If it was applying force evenly it shouldn't have peeled the one side of the collar.

The pulley on my 05 was so rusted on it did the same thing. I didnt put any heat on it though. I just cut the pulley with a angle grinder like it was a pizza. Ended up having to put a new pump on too, which I planned on when the pulley didnt come off.

Have someone rock the steering wheel back and forth and watch the sector shaft where it comes out of the box to see if it's moving sideways instead of turning= bad lower bearing/sector. Also watch both ends of the drag link to make sure there is no movement at either end.

I'm at my wits end. I'll be looking for a good shop to take it too.

Two alignment shops later and same issue. One guy said it was due to my draglink. What do you think? I'm running and adjustable "s" type draglink and a 4" raise steering arm. Is this overkill and throwing my geometry off??
