There you go, someone with an actual good suggestion. Even the load range E trailer tires I showed you were only like 2,800 lbs. This is a much better option. And if your worried about getting stuck in the snow get a winch. If your in the woods behind your house worst case you just winch it all the way home!

As for breaking axles you can do that at any speed. If a tire slips then grabs when you have power in it u- joints and axles are weak in your truck. You have 10 bolt differentials I think. Not GMs best.

Not really planning on carry 'that' much load.. The problem I am faced with is that when I'm carrying a significant load, the passenger load rated tires available to me balloon out, exposing the sidewalls to sharp rocks, even the small ones (2 inch) that the logging companies like to put on the roads to prevent erosion and mud pits.... The tires have practically zero protection in the sidewalls...

I just want to be able to carry a cord of wood without worry...

I have only been looking at how many pounds they can carry.. The local tire stores have only been able to offer me up to 2350 per tire... 2,600 might do it..

Maybe I'll look on line further for something I can buy and have installed locally..

I have no idea how I could weigh my truck around here..

I am pretty sure there were half tons that came with the 6.5 L diesel in the mid 90s that came with a five lug 14 bolt rear axle. Can’t say for sure if they were 15 or 16 inch rams. Being that it is a newer vehicle you may have better luck looking for something like that at the junkyard.

Posi/limited slip by any chance? I do want to put that on the truck at some point (same with my chevy van if I can ever figure out how to get cat converters for it that are affordable enough for the state to allow me to drive it again)

Yeah, but i wanted to rub it in that i was insulted that it was implied that my answer wasn't a "good suggestion."

Hey look, those cadillac ambulances MAY have had 5x5 wheels and thus you could put larger rubber on them since this was (the installation of a 14 bolt rear in a B-body) for commercial purposes.
