64 c 10 "Huckleberry" build progress

Now that the weather is cooler, I was able to make more progress with my 64 c10 resto-mod project truck.



Complete air ride

rebuilt the tired inline 6

new steering components

custom rear shock mounts

removed factory behind seat gas tank (wtf !) and installed a new tank under the bed


Ditched the manual drum brakes up front and converted to vacuum assisted disc brakes


replaced all of the soft brake lines AND the hard lines as well.

.......and finally received the new wheels and tires...yesterday afternoon.

The pinch welds of Huckleberry are 4 inches off of the pavement for now when the air ride system is dumped. Next step is to do a full body drop once the transmission has been gone through. I estimate that she will be road ready by December at this point as I need to fine tune a few more items (relocating the front shock mounts, bleeding the brakes etc.).

Once road ready, the bench seat, carpet and door panels will be replaced. I am torn between re-shooting the factory orange or just spray the paint as is matte clear once more natural patina and rust collect this winter.


Now for the fun factor...at least for me...the rear step bumper drags with the proper air bag pressure while driving. I did a test run before reworking the brakes and all I can say is...SPARK city!!

Im not a lowered truck kind of guy but that is sharp! I like those rims and the wood in the box. Looks like fun! I vote just clear over the current paint!

Its been a fun project and far from done...but close. Several people have suggested to keep the paint as is. I don't want to have to worry about keeping the paint clean and would rather have people parked next to me worry about the condition of their paint.
