This is my first square body truck I’ve had 6 silverados but never anything this old so there’s a lot of things I don’t know yet. Just picked up my first truck a couple weeks ago and so I’ve been slowly working on it. Anyway there’s a toggle switch the previous owner installed in the dash and two wires run out to

what I think is the windshield motor? It’s the two blue wires in the pic and the toggle switch seems to be broken. Any help on what it’s for or why they did it is appreciated. Just wondering if I can ditch it

I think you're right that the po has that switch for the windshield wipers. The po of mine did the same thing but with a wall light switch. Lol and it runs my wipers.

But the stock one works and I’ve played with it turning it on and off while the stock one is one and it changes nothing. Could it be some kind of jumper wire but the switch is stuck on?

here’s the new project. 73 with a 350 that won’t be in there for long I hope. Gonna get full cab off restore and hopefully 6.0 ls swap when it’s done. Pretty solid truck no heavy rust and pre smog for California[emoji14]

Looks like the 'pulse' option and they gave up trying to fix it so they hot-wired the motor to the oddball switch.

I can't see where the added blue wire goes when it leaves the picture. I am going to guess that is going to the windshield washer pump. But I am more concerned about the bulkhead terminal block than I am about the washer/wiper splices. Look at the right side of the connector. You have some major heat issues there caused by dirty/corroded terminals.

Doug, your wiring is scary.
